We often suggest playing matchups with your D/ST all season. It’s tough to say with certainty what constitutes a good vs. bad matchupearly in the season, so we’ll judge largely based on how turnover-prone/experienced the starting QBs are.
There aren’t many teams with two favorable matchups to start the season, at least among teams that might not get drafted.Buffalo(vs. Jets, @ Dolphins),Pittsburgh(@ Giants, vs. Broncos), andSan Francisco(vs. Cardinals, @ Jets) have some of the best opening stretches, but all three will be drafted fairly early anyway.Tennesseeis your best two-week “sleeper” pick with games at Denver and at home against the Jaguars.Jacksonville(vs. Colts, @ Titans) isn’t bad, andPhiladelphia(@ Redskins, vs. Rams),andIndianapolis(@ Jaguars, vs. Vikings) have some appeal, too.
If you’re just looking to cover yourself for Week 1, then you can add theChargers(@ Bengals),Baltimore(vs. Browns), andDetroit(vs. Bears) to the teams above.
