Singapore residents can collect a free pair of antimicrobial face masks from vending machines in a third distribution exercise organised by Temasek Foundation.
The new masks are black and come in four sizes, Temasek Foundation CEO Ho Ching explained in a Facebook post on Thursday (Nov 19).
The Proshield masks are also antibacterial, washable up to at least 30 times and highly breathable, so that they can be used during exercises.
“These are 3D style masks, with a fitted cupped shape, similar to many DIY masks, rather than the pleated style like the DET30 masks distributed in the previous rounds,” added Ho.
She also said that the 3D masks will come with “pockets” in case we wish to add extra filters beyond 30 or 50 washes or when we want extra protection.
Collection starts on Monday, November 30, 10am and ends Sunday, December 13. More details will be released next week.
Those interested in ordering more, can also pre-order, from November 30, 10am to December 12.
Residents are advised to check their sizes according to the sizing templates before they collect the free masks or pre-order more.
According to Temasek Foundation’s mask sizing guide, the best fit for your face can be determined by aligning the middle of your eyes to a ruler and measuring the distance to the bottom of your chin.
They come in four sizes, including an S size for kids under 8, and a slightly bigger M size for bigger primary school age kids as well as lower secondary school age kids.
The black masks are available in small (110mm or smaller), medium (100mm-120mm), large (110mm-130mm) and extra large (125mm or bigger). One free mask kit in size S will also be available per child aged eight and under.
Individuals who are between two size categories should opt for a larger size, it added.
The same method of collection applies — by scanning any Singov issued ID at the vending machines.
“Avoid the crowds on the first two days — there are enough masks for everyone,” added Ho in her Facebook post.
