Singapore will enter Phase 3 of its reopening in 2 weeks’ time, says Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in a live public address on Monday (Dec 14).
Phase three will begin on Dec 28, he said, noting of the efforts of Singaporeans.
The country is now ready to progress to phase three of its reopening, he said.
Social gatherings can now have up to 8 people, up from the current 5. This is to make it easier to hold family get-togethers during the festive period.
Capacity limits in public places like malls and attractions, and at places of worship will be eased, he added.
Operating capacity of attractions will be increased from 50 per cent to 65 per cent.
Capacity for worship services will increase to up to 250 persons, or 5 zones of 50 persons.
Pilots for outdoor live performances will be expanded to 250 persons, or 5 zones of 50.
He said that the ministerial task force tackling the Covid-19 pandemic will explain the details immediately after this address.
He, however, stressed that even as Singapore enters phase three, the battle against Covid-19 is far from won.
The virus has not been eradicated and there is a long way to go, with the pandemic still raging around the world, he said.
Many countries are seeing second, third or even fourth waves of infection, with record numbers of daily cases, he said.
